I am not a winter person so when the spring came along and daylight savings began I was very happy. I decided to see what I could do with my digital camera and colored gels just messing around in the backyard. So I grabbed my Nikon Coolpix 775 along with a handful of gels and went to work. I took about a thousand pictures of a weather vain on my fence at different times of the evening over a month to see what kind of effects I could get by using the fill flash and night setting. I also started my self portrait experiment during this time which drove my wife nuts, but I had fun with it. Another phase of this involved my neighbors junk pile on the other side of my fence which produced some very interesting pics.
