Lightning is exciting to watch, especially having grown up in a place where lightning was rare. So, when I moved to the southwest I was very excited to try to photograph some. The first image was near Rio Rancho, NM and it scared the crap out of me as it snuck up on me from behind as I was photographing a storm off in the distance. The second image is an abandoned hogan on the reservation near Rio Puerco. This was another instance that I had to be aware of what I was doing because there were three storms converging on where I was at. At one point I had to duck inside the hogan for some feeble shelter as the storm became very intense. The last two shots are also from Rio Puerco during the same storm. I was able to capture the cars travelling along I-40 with the lightning in the background.
