This was a great a night of shooting, especially considering this construction site was just around the corner from my house. I packed up my gear and walked to this site since it was so close. Some of the shots were washed out because I was using 200 speed ectochrome slide film and I exposed it for too long. But, I got some really great colors on this roll along with compositions that I am really happy with.
I ended up back there again a month later and everything had changed so here is what I got.

Terrapin Trailways
Counting stars by candlelight
Some are dim but one is bright
The spiral light on Venus
Rising first and shining best
Oh, from the north-west corner
Of a brand new crescent moon
Where crickets and cicadas sing
A rare and different tune
Terrapin Station
In the shadow of the moon
Terrapin Station
And I know we'll be there soon

Along the the old Route 66 loop up to Santa Fe there is a memorial to the Mormon regiment which marched 2,000 miles from Council Bluffs, in the Iowa Territory to California during the Mexican War in 1846. The commanding officer is quoted in his speech after the journey as referring to the natives as 'savages.' This hasn't really made the locals happy so the word has been scratched out by the local San Felipe Indian tribe. The dead end sign is at the end of the road the memorial is on.
Welding Yard - Aug. 2005
I have been driving past this welding yard for two years. I finally got permission from the owner to hang out there one night. The night was cloudy but there was still a glow that lit everything. Unfortunately, most of the pictures came out bland and too bright. The moon finally came out around 3 a.m. so I was able to get some OK shots.
